Ok put your thinking hats on. She has the long starts in the morning, engine runs rough when cold or climbing steep hills. Put new earth in no change. Then I noticed when fuel pump is priming before start there is a hissing noise coming from drivers side of the engine and stops when pump finished. So are they related and what is hissing in my fuel system?

How is that for a start?

Injector seals are possibly leaking, the lower copper ones. these will allow combustion gasses into the fuel system during running and airate it, causing issues on hills and poor starting due to the presence of air in the fuel.

Is the pump noisy when priming, too?

Fairly easy to rectify, injectors out and new copper washers, and Orings. Genuine parts only.

There should be a tutorial in 'The Good Oil' section here I think?

    Thanks man that was quick.
I'll check it out. Do you know is it ok to still drive or will I do some expensive damage. Just a few weeks while waiting for parts and time?

No you can only hear it when standing outside the car. It runs for about 2-3 mins. This is normal?

Yes, usuallly with the airated fuel issues the pump is noisier.

It is OK to drive BUT the longer you leave it the worse it will get, AND you run the risk of blowing a gas track across the sealing surface in the head OR the injector tip.

I've seen one so bad I couldn't get all the way up a hill, had to bleed the vehicle on the side of the road during the test drive and gently drive it back downhill to the workshop

There are a few of us D2 owners in orange, including yours truly
Let me know when you get it sorted, there are some good tracks in the area, we could go for an explore!
Good luck getting your issues sorted!
    Cheers
