    brake pads/ disc rotors....Paddocks?

Need new brake pads, front disc rotors, considering buying Paddocks brand. Have heard aftermarket items can cause trouble with the ABS , anyone used Paddocks without a problem? cheers, Bob.

I just got a set of rotars and pads from Alan at British Four Wheel Drive - Land Rover Parts, Range Rover Parts, Discovery Parts, Freelander Parts, Defender Parts, Accessories & Spares Specialist i have purchased a few things of late and can not complain about service, delivery or product. The new brakes are very good (sorry cant remember the brand) pedal is firm and car stops very well.

I think the freight on a brake disc would be the killer. I buy a lot through Paddock Spares, and their freight prices aren't that good. I would bet a local disc would be cheaper in the long run.

Alan is very easy to deal with and all it would take is a phone call to find out what delivery is, iam in Launceston he is in Hobart and delivery for all of my front brakes was $15, i thought this was very good considering the weight.

I've just replaced my front rotors and discs. Bought the rotors from Karcraft in Sydney for $110 (incl GST)(Bearmach brand). UK discs were cheaper but the freight was a real killer and I didn't want to wait. Cost seemed to be about the same or less that sourcing from OS. I'm also happy to pay a small premium to support local suppliers.

I bought rear pads for my RRC last night from DLS in UK, on Ebay.
They are Mintex and cost $30 or so including postage.

How can I justify buying locally for say $70?????
Of all things the markups on brake pads seems to be outrageous in Oz.

Any idea what the cost of new pads/discs all round would be?
Alternatively, if there's enough meat left on the discs, what would it cost for them to be machined?
    Any recommendations for brands?
Figured I should worry about keeping it safely on the road before all the fancy mods.
    Cheers

I was quoted front discs $ 85 each, front pads original,$ 115, rear original $120, front aftermarket $110, rear a/m $120. There are UK parts suppliers where you can get them a lot cheaper, but freight can be an issue. However, I have used UK suppliers, and with freight, still cheaper than buying here. When you are on a tight budget, buying Australian is not an option sometimes. Bob
