    Weeping ATF cooler.

    G'day all.
A while ago I had it pointed out to me that the ATF cooler on my D2 Td5 appeared to be weeping. Don't ask me how that conclusion was arrived at, ask Slunnie
Going to have it serviced down in sydney, probably at graeme cooper, as its the first service it will have with me as the owner, and I want to make sure its all okay.
I've seen several upgraded ATF coolers available, and was wondering if its worth having one of these put in, or simply replacing either the leaking lines or tank (Again, ask slunnie, I have no idea what it all means )
I don't do much towing, and when I do its never heavy weights.
Neither do I do alot of hardcore offroading, more medium offroading and a bit of touring
Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi,

If yours has the clip on lines on the cooler the seals are common for leaking. Last one i repaired the owner supplied new lines bought from a rover specialist. You might be able to find them on eBay as they seem to have everything else.

If the cooler is leaking it self from the tanks or fins then might be worth upgrading it if possible.

I would confirm where its leaking before spending your money.

I've had the lines blow off the cooler unit out in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly the nasty smell of ATF cooking on the exhaust system (I still wake from nightmares with that smell in my nostrils) and no propulsion. The result was a long walk through the desert to find ATF in an aboriginal community, followed by a slow and nerve wracking drive back to civilistation. Take this opportunity to replace the OEM snap on clips with something that won't let you down.
