Without CDL they are very competent. With they are more positive in low grip conditions. Starting off in deep sand towing the CDL assists in moving off. Output housing and internals and basic actuator is all that's required. Cheers

next time your up the beach,,
unlock the CDL and do one full lock circle,
then lock the CDL and do another one starting from the same point.

LR put the cdl back in for a reason!

Unless you go off road you will not notice that the cld is not there.

The safety benefit of the CDL is also in the reversing down slippery slope under braking scenario. With no locked center diff the front wheels can lock and suddenly gravity takes over and the front swings away. I've experienced it on only a shallow slope before I had the CDL put in and it was scary, the bank on the side of the track stopped the swing.

Nearly all of my 4wding has been in the VIC high country. The difference between cdl and non-cdl is very noticeable, especially when climbing slippery tracks.
Talk to your local LR specialist. I'm sure he will tell you how to best achieve the cdl install.
The guy who did mine just happened to have a spare front output housing sitting under his workshop bench.
