No, got it installed. will give an update after I've checked the AM reception along the freeway next to the trains. You can buy it cheaper than I paid on the net, but I'm not capable of installation plus wanted to support local industry. With the reversing camera all up 1700 - phew!

Also forgot - it has an ipod cable too!

I've just installed an eBay special by the name of Erisin into the single DIN slot. It has a fold out 7" display. Radio, blue tooth phone connection, GPS, DVD player, aux and iOS inputs, rear camera, remote control.
I haven't installed OziexplorerCE yet but can't see why it will be a problem.
It has a nice bright and clear display. The sound is similar to the OEM radio. Radio sensitivity isn't as good as the original. It plugged straight in to the original loom, but I haven't attempted to connect the steering wheel controls yet.
The phone part syncs well with the iPhone. Rear camera to suit cost about $20.
Cost $285.

When talking about a car stereo, DIN refers to a standardized radio/stereo size for vehicles (large enough to accept a CD). The size is 2" high by 7" wide. 2 DIN or double DIN refers to units that are twice as high as the standard DIN, and so 1 DIN would be the standard DIN specification.

So Paul or anyone else used one of these interfaces? Looks like I have narrowed the stereo down to your suggestion of the Sony.....install price I have been quoted is $80 and another $80 to install the interface ( they said around $150 for interface) Does this sound about right? Thanks in advance,

I would have loved a stereo that plays Ipods or from USB sticks but the unit I bought was a dust proof one that covers the CD slot (non ejection was an ongoing problem).

To bring the ipod into the stereo I bought a cable that goes from the small headphone plug for the ipod to the Red/White plugs at the other end and then a little red/white male/male adaptor plug and then just plugged it into the audio cables that send the audio from the stacker. Seems to work well, but its not seemless like an ipod ready unit.

I would also look for a unit that takes USB sticks, then you don't have to worry about the ipod and the associated problems.

I like that! It's be good if the stacker would still go into it if you ever wanted to play a CD.... or are CD's too yesterday?

On the back of your post I've decided to retrofit the steering controls to my povpack d2. I have all the parts and am just waiting on a torx driver that will actually reach the torx screws holding the airbag in place.

I ordered the swi-ps from a US ebay seller for $55.00Aus shipped. Mark-up on this stuff is a b*tch. It doesn't require much to install - if they are billing for 30-45 minutes work to install the swi-ps that should be about right. It is straight forward - three wires need to be connected, and the interface programmed.

$80 sounds about right for the stereo install. It's not going to be very difficult. They might need to solder or crimp connectors on to 1 or two wires depending on the adapter harness they use.
