help in fitting aftermaket stereo to harmon kardon system
Hi All
I have gone through a heap of these threads, however still have a question - does anybody know what sort of output the std (alpine?) head unit gives to the Harmon Kardon amp.
I presumed it would be a line level output, however the factory wiring uses just speaker type wiring, not screened wiring as you would expect for a line level signal.
The speakers are all driven from the HK amp, so presume there must also be some sort of crossover built into the amp for the front 3 ways and rear subs?
The previous owner has fitted a nice JVC head unit with USB and bluetooth, however bypassed the HK amp and wired directly to the front mids and tweeters, now both the mids are stuffed.
I don't have access to the std head unit, any info or suggestions appreciated..

You can drive the existing amp via 3 volt preouts on an aftermarket head unit.
