Yes yours could be one of last with cdl internals before they then changed to the 02 model year. Are you sure your build date was October 01 or is this the compliance plate date? The reason I ask is the 02MY build started around June/July 2001 with a 2A vin. Mine is a Sept build and was already a 2A vin number and no CDL internals. Unless yours was held up on the production line and given a later build date with an older vin number?

When I ran the REVs check pre-purchase it gave a build date of October 2001
(Sale date/first rego 12/01)
Just double checked the LR Vin plate which confirms 10/01 build

I remember reading that the late-late D2a SLABs ECU was essentially 'pre-cut' in terms of the wire,
That is, the ECU automatically recognises to disable the TC when the CDL is locked
