Hay guys im interested to know if anyone has ever tried a local Converter shop? All that would be needed is a smaller impeller which could be out of any ZF4HP22/24 transmission. (Maybe even ZF3HP22)

Seems a big price to import something that could be lying around. I have been looking into doing this as i want to drop the stall 500rpm on my Td5 as its always hanging a 2200rpm around town.

Im currently looking for a old 1980 -1990 BMW converter to pull apart and compare.

Also ALTO USA has a carbon lock up plate which can be cut to suit any converted hopefully it will suit the disco converter.

    Cheers
    Rhys

Planning for my own -99 DII Td5 auto replacement now, came across this thread. Do you still have the plans for the trans adaptor plate Chris? Could you Pm them to me? And now, some four years later, how was it? As dreadful as I imagine...??
