The shipped battery in my Mazda was still going when I replaced it at 6 years (seven from the build date). The only reason I replaced it was because it was constantly failing the load tests, and I just wanted to be safe.

I generally get 10 years out of starting batteries, My 2000 D2 oem battery gave 9 yrs.
S1 battery is 10 yrs next month.

I am VERY pedantic about not leaving a battery undercharged.
Been known to put a battery on charge at 2 am after a drive home

    Cheers,
    Terry

Yeah my battery failed the load test the other day when i did my service it was showing 389cca remainig from a 850cca battery. Have a new one on order but hasnt made it in time as it failed this morning. My symtom was cranked for 2 seconds then stopped.

Funny thing was i got to work this morning and there where 3 cars in the shop that had flat batterys. We also had 3 cars booked in which also failed the cca test and needed batterys.

Im going with a NRMA barttery due to there 3 year warranty which is renewed if it fails during the 3 year period. etc etc.

    Cheers
    Rhys
