TD5 Engine Oil Pressure Gauge - options?

I have 1 more space available on the Mudpod gauge panel and being old fashioned, like the idea of an engine oil pressure gauge for my TD5.

Not having fully understood some of the intracacies of the various posts on this point, can I ask for suggestions for the best (better?) type of oil pressure gauge assuming I can chose between electric (sweep, NOT numerals) and mechanical? All things being equal, I have a preference for electrical (no oil line?) but I'm unsure about engine/sender connections etc. COMMENTS?

My new about to be fitted Auto Trans oil temp gauge is a VDO cockpit vision so I am thinking I should be sticking with that brand (which may in turn limit my options).

Alternatively, and depending on the suggestions here AND whether my AT oil temp sender is compatible for connecting to most gauges? I would not mind replacing the VDO and going more high tech with gauges incorporating alarms. COMMENTS?

I already have information for EGT (Thermoguard), plus real coolant temp, volts and boost (via nanocom) and a low coolant alarm (from Dave's Shop - although I misunderstood the site and thought I was getting an equivalent of the TM2 or TM4 which also come with a gauge).

I went to visit Autron yesterday since I too am looking for oil pressure monitoring. I'm looking at one of these 52mm units:

They offer oil pressure in psi, water temp in C°, plus an option to have a third numerical thermometer reading down the bottom which can be used to monitor oil temp, transmission temp, current to/from the battery (using a hall coupling) or the temp in your fridge. They also do one which is oil pressure/oil temp plus the numerical display.

They're made and supported here which I like. I walked through the assembly line but sadly it wasn't running at the time.

Total cost for my oil pressure/water temp/numerical oil temp setup will be around $300, but the main reason I'm going that way is that you can set alarm thresholds for the measurements. They sell their own senders, but the above kit comes with oil pressure and water temp included in the $199 cost. Delivery and the other thermo probe are extra, plus I need a pod.

Do not go mechanical. You don't want to run an oil line from the engine through to the cabin, through the dash to the gauge. Get an electronic one - just t-piece the sensor in and run a cable to the gauge. done and much safer.

Personally I like Autometer, have always found there gauges to be of good quality and reasonably priced from the USA. They even have a black faced unit with green back lighting that doesn't look to bad with the factory D2 dash lighting.

The Autron units are a thing of beauty. After visiting their website I came to the conclusion - I dont need one but I really want one..... maybe two.... in some sort of pod. Bloody Hell ... now you've done it

It's a pity you can't get them in more subtle colouring. The white back ground isn't that flash to match the Disco dash...

The way I see it is that I would need to spend 2/3 of that at least to set up with VDO, Autometer or even SAAS gauges to tell me the same level of information but without the alarm features. Also the array of 3 gauges would be a PITA to arrange on the Disco dash. Having just spent over $4K on a rebuild I look at $300 as very cheap to avoid going there again.

I've just emailed Autron for more info - I like the idea of OZ stuff, even if at a "reasonable" premium.

Has anyone successfully fitted A pillar gauge pods (single, dual or triple) and if so, any details please?

What about a MadMan gauge? About the same price and tells even more information with even more alarms? Also the coloring matches better...

I am researching the same - how/where are you picking up the auto trans temperature?

    thanks
