Is there a simple means by which an XYZ Switch assembly can be tested?
I have just replaced one with a new switch, only to find the same flashing M & S lights.
After fitting a new battery the problem has been resolved. Old battery when tested, although indicating fully charged was only outputting 370 CCA. With this it is possible original switch may be OK.
I would expect if the XYZ switch is working properly and adjusted properly that you would see each gear displayed correctly on the dash.
Cheers

Yes, new switch is fine, properly adjusted. It is the old switch, that I now believe to be OK, just wanting to be able to conform it is, if possible.

I'd imagine that you dont have to remove the new one to test it, just plug it into the loom and move the switch manually to see if the dash display works? I knew it was my siwtch rather than battery on mine becuase the display always flickered.
There is a fair bit of auto troubleshooting info in this doc, including what readings you should get from in each position of the the XYZ switch.

The first 27 pages are primarily related to the P38a gearbox, but the remainder covers the 4HP22EH and 4HP24 boxes and GS8.87.0 (D2) and GS8.87.1 (P38a) EAT ECU's.
Page 8 of the second section has switch readings for each of the shifter position, including transition positions i.e. 1->2, 2->3, etc.
