Jason,
The main difference that I am aware of is the torque converter, I think the gear ratios are the same but not 100% sure on that others will know.

Pardon my ignorance but,
Is there any difference between a TD5 and a V8 auto transmission for a D2??
My assumption is that the shift points controlled by the ECU would be the only difference, but then there is my ignorance to the ZF trans.
If I was to purchase a V8 auto, would that be alright for a TD5??('99 D2)
Just looking for cheaper options for replacing pump seal on existing auto.
Cheers,
Jason

Different transmission model number, torque converter, torque converter housing, rear extension housing, transmission ECU.

I think there are some internal differences also - valve bodies or something or other so that it shifts to suit the V8 instead of the TD5

Jason, the auto gearbox for the TD5 is identical to that of the V8. Different torque convertor and EAT ECU.
