I would be doing it now its a big safety issue and could fail.

I did my FPR about 2 months ago, I ordered it from Brookwells in the UK

Payed 237 pounds for FRP,gasket,o'ring,a service filter kit (oilx2,air,fuel) and an EGR blocking kit including delivery.

In saying that I have kept the old one and if it happens again I will be doing the O'ring kit

Fuel leaking from the FPR finds its way into the starter motor which causes the starter solenoid to fail.

fix it as soon as you are able.

re searching -- use google search for the phrase suffixed by "discovery 2 aulro"

Timely post as my FPR has started leaking. Say my mechanic this morning who said it wasn't urgent but should be done as soon as convenient as it will evenually blow and my vehicle will fail to proceed. Said part was about $300 and 2 hours labour (a little more for a manual).

What is the difference between an auto and a manual with regards to the FPR?? None that I can think of. I would have liked my FPR replacement to only have taken two hours. Because it's in an awkward spot, and disconnecting the front hose at the block is a bit fiddly, took more like 4 hours.

BTW Make sure all of the parts are changed - some mechanics (for some unknown reason) don't change the hose to the front of the block (perhaps easier / quicker to replace FPR only?). This hose fails from heat stress and can spary diesel all around that part of the engine. Also can lead to alternator failure.

I've decided to order a Fuel Pressure Regulator from the UK for about $225.
On Micks suggestion I'm also ordering a EGR kit with Silicon hoses for about $166 from the same supplier. Prices include freight.
Also on ebay are repair kits for the pressure regulator, The O Ring kit for $17 I don't think would have fixed the problem as I suspect the actual regulator is the most likely fault. Someone also sells a repair kit that includes the pressure regulator for about $70. I think this would fix the problem but I've decided to take the safer solution and order the genuine part.

I just replaced the o-ring and gasket on my 2 hose FPR. Two stripped bolt heads made for a terrible time but i bought a set of Irwin stripped bolt removers (see below) The very bottom bolt of the three was the worst and i needed a couple of extension bars an i had to get the ratchet right down low to get the correct angle (down past the steering column). I now know how to dislocate my wrist, fingers and elbow!

This got me out of a world of hurt. Im not sure what i would have done with out them.

The other very handy tool i made up was to tighten the fuel hose bolts as there was no room to get a normal spanner on this bolt due to the fuel temp sensor. I just cut an old 14mm spanner like this so that it went around the fuel line but was skinny enough to allow me to tighten the bolts.

I just hope the actual regulator is not the culprit otherwise ill be doing it again next weekend.

i had mine replaced on monday as it had been leaking for a while buy the smell i was getting but was unable to locate the leak till last sunday when i could see it leaking only took 3/4 of an hour extra while my car was getting serviced

After a 30 km drive to work, my worst fears were confirmed. The o-ring and gasket did not fix the leak - definately coming from the reg itself.

I found this on ebay which is a complete rebuild kit excluding the housing only. For $60 odd delivered cant beat it. And it comes with both types of metal gaskets - 2 and 3 hose versions, all orings and 4 bar pressure regulator.
