Is your vehicle a D2 with aftermarket CDL actuating cable fitted? if so were you using the CDL?
turning engine off when ctr diff locked disables traction control at next engine start.
last weekend at the Watagans, I was occasionally getting the TC & ABS lights staying lit. I eventually figured it was only happening if I turned the engine off without selecting high range, then putting it in Park, setting the handbrake, & then turning off. If I turned it off in low range I had to shift to Hi range & back to low to reactivate trac control so I generally didn't do this.
When I got the lights I could clear them by turning it off as described above and restarting (waiting until the bulb check lights went off after turning the ignition on before starting it).
This is the first time I've had the amigos in the 7 months I've had the disco, although when I had a nanocom plugged in it read an intermittent shuttle valve fault (from before I bought it) so I'll be doing option B sometime soon.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Alex

I do have this. Its good, but I would recommend a D2a transfer case lever that allows high and low range to be selected independantly from CDL locked or unlocked.

You guys are all correct - it is the John Davis CDL linkage I have. Not sure how this relates to the ABS/TC light problem
Alpick, you may remember it was your nanocom that picked up the shuttle valve fault after I converted from SLS to coils.
Hi, I occassionally get 2 amigoes as you do, mine comes up as a fault on the left front sensor. it says it has a broken cable or faulty wire.
It happens at random, and is dirt related on mine. I haven't removed it recently to clean it.
A nanocom or similar would give you more insight.
If you've got the lever that activates CDL when in low range then as said, thats the problem.
If you lock the centre diff, then turn the car off with it still locked, the next time you start it, TC and ABS are disabled as far as I know, which causes the lights to stay on after starting up
Or perhaps i've missed something
BUT if you left it in low range and thus with the centre diff locked, then thats the issue.

Muppet is spot on. With the pre-facelift D2's starting with the CDL locked is treated as fault condition. In addition to the diff lock lamp, you get ETC and ABS lights on the dash to indicate ETC has been disabled and ABS/EBD/HDC are functioning with reduced performance.
If this is problem there are three solutions:
- Do nothing, and remember to do the "CDL shuffle" before you turn off the motor. Some consider the ability to disable ETC a benefit not a problem.
- Do the "wire cut" mod (or variations) which entails cutting the line between the diff lock switch and SLABS ECU to fool the ECU into thinking the CDL is always unlocked. An option is to insert a switch so that you can choose to disable ETC.
- Upgrade to a post-facelift SLABS ECU, which is programmed to treat the locked CDL as a normal condition.
If the wire cut has already been done and you know that the SLABS ECU is not sensing the locked CDL I'd consider looking at the SVS, but judging by your problem and the described steps to remedy I'd be betting the diff lock switch is still connected.

Just cut the wire!
Then no more problems![]()
