Just realised the small part of the new2003Discovery.com.au site that was archived has the same section of the options list as Mr. Whippy's pic from the UK brochure. Again, there is no mention of the heated seats.

My 02 Td5 ES has heated seats and they are lovely!

    Here's the part numbers:
    AWR5157 seat back
    AWR5156 seat bottom
    to vin 3A824320

    and they aren't really expensive

Apparently US spec leather seats are all pre-wired not necessarily activated. See here Land Rover Heated Seat Activation Kit | Land Rover Electrical Kits

Also should be kept in mind that dealers did option cars up to make their own model specifications.

One of ours was the 'TReK', it had wider alloys, flares, and colour coded bumper corners at the front on basically an 'S' model Discovery (might have been more but I was 7 at the time...).

This is what our D2 is, so maybe some dealers in the colder regions put in heated seats?!?!?!

But it's a Land Rover so you never know...

    Cheers

Also should add, those cars were actually out of spec from the factory, they were built like the NAS models, hence having the wider wheels and flares...

Hi, I have a D2 with leather seats but no heated seat switches.
I purchased two switches from the England. I then removed panel around gear levers and electric switches. Underneath was the wiring for the heated seats. Plugged in switches and Hey Presto!! Lovely hot leather seats!!

My 2000 model TD5 Disco has them too. Pain in the backside (so to speak) up here in the tropics. Put something down on the centre console and they get turned on and make the seat all hot!

Used them for real once when we visited Victoria in winter last month.

My brochure is definitely an Australian one.

    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

My 03 d2a doesn't have them but there is power connectedto them under the seat this thread reminded me that I have plans to tap the power source for a small inverter to charge camera batteries rtc.

Hope mine have them in there and just need the switches. I haven't picked it up yet. But it does have leather, but there not electric. Will hopefully find out tomorrow afternoon.

If mine doesn't have the heaters in it. I think I will do something similar. Put an ARB compressor under the seat and use the seat heater switch to power the relay.

If the seats aren't electric, then you will not have the elements fitted.

    Mr Whippy,
they may have removed them because they don't work?? It is a 2nd hand vehicle after all!

If you have an ES/(later)SE or HSE then the elements will be in the seats.
Just a matter of fitting the switches, if you have the single piece wood console then your in poo!

If you have a "Classic" late model run out again you will not have the elements in the seat as they were a base spec to get the vehicles sold for the Discovery 3 to be released.

    Cheers
