Question The best way to flash/program the TD5 ECU

What is the best way to flash/program the ECU in a TD5 Discovery 2?

Jose from TD5 Inside has advised the following:
    • Run the engine for a few minutes before programming.
    • Turn off anything that draws a current from the battery, such as radio, lights and fan.
    • Make sure the batteries are in good shape.
    • Make sure you have the latest Nanocom version.

    Anything else to consider?
Is the engine running or off when programming?
What position should the key/ignition be in?
I assume I put the new map file onto the SD card for the Nanocom - does it need to be in any particular location/folder on the SD card? Does it need to have any particular file name?

I flashed mine this evening, the method is:

Run the vehicle for a few minutes so that you charge up the battery and so it's at a high voltage.
Turn the ignition on (so the instrument cluster lights illuminate).
Turn of all accessories and other additional electrical items.
    Plug in the Nanocom.
Go to the MAP menu and select Write MAP.
    Follow instructions on the Nanocom.
    Done.

Google it. You'll find plenty of websites selling them which will tell you how much they cost.

If you only want to reflash once probably not worthwhile. However if you buy a remap from an OS company you'll probably have to load maps several times as the remap is fine tuned for your set up.

    Consider the process:

    - Read existing .map and injector codes to send to tuning company
    - Upload remap
    testing
    - drive car and see if the remap is smoky and if it performs to your expectations. Give feed back to tuning company.
    - Upload revised map
    repeat testing until satisfied

If you do any kind of DIY work on the D2 you find the Nanocom becomes an essential part of the tool kit.

That said if you decided to buy just to remap, you can be fairly certain of getting a significant portion of your investment back if you sell on eBay. I'd expect a barely used EVO 2 to sell for a minimum of $300-350, if the bidding was keen you might even make a small profit.

    cheers
    Paul
