    NO BONNET RELEASE

    Right fun one for everyone.

I got my D2 back from mechanics a few weeks ago went to check oils and things before a long drive to the snow and the bonnet would not release.

for the life of me and help from wife not a inch, I can hear the 'click' from the bonnet but she will not move.

pulled the lever off the side wall to give it a bit more pull but still no good anyone think of a way to open this with out a grinder???????

    thanks

Might sound silly, but did you try pulling and holding the lever out (after the click), pulling up on the bonnet while the lever is out?

I had a similar problem with the fuel release in my mazda. I had to jam a key under the release lever then use another key to wedge the fuel door open. Happily it was an easy fix as the little spring thing was out of line.

After having heard the click, have you tried lifting just 1 side at a time, perhaps even pressing down in the centre at the same time?

This happened to me last weekend, had to reach up with a crowbar and manually push the lever to the side. I guess if you couldnt do that you would have to go in through the front grill somehow?

I did try that but only the second release I went pass the mech last night and had a look at a opening bonnet to see how it locks now that I have that around my head i'll try and get that pin pushed over.

Mech wants to pull out light and cut cable to pull on it from there....mm last resort i think.

Through a gap in the grille I drilled a 10mm hole into the plastic shield when my cable broke to allow a large screwdriver to be used.

When someone, well maybe me left the battery cover off and shut the bonnet I had this issue.
Needed alot of pusshing on the bonnet to get the preasure off the bonnet pin.

Also worth a try is to pull on the cable outer while someone pulls the handle, you maybe able to get onto it with wire through the grill.
    Cheers, Kyle
