    Back to a Disco 2 Td5

It has been a few years since l have owned a D2, and now decided to buy another.
99 Td5 manual 282000kms, with head already redone etc etc.
Just had to do the Harmonic Balancer.
Seems like to usual issues to catch up on, but very happy with the way the car drives now.
After spending $14K+ on my D3 with countless issues, l am back to a car i can trust more.

No CDL lever, so ordered a Car Power Chip CDL Air Actuator from Portugal.
They are very simple, and operate via on board air compressor.
    Cost $240.00 approx landed
    2inch lift, snorkel etc etc.
Need to remap ECU soon, and off for some touring !!
    Cheers Dave

    Hi Dave,

We met a while back. I came around to your place to pick up a grill for my white D1 at the time.

    I've moved on to D2 also a 1999 Td5.

I am interested to know who you intend to use for the remap and how you are going to get around the 1999 ecu, being unmappable and all.

Do you have a link for the CDL actuator I can't find anything on the web.

    Hi Busman,
Interesting to hear you moving back to a D2. I'm pretty happy with my D2 and intend to keep it for a while longer, but always expected to upgrade to a newer Disco at some stage. Always liked the idea of the TDV6.

I've heard the build quality of the D3 & D4 was better than the D2, are there still issues with them, or did you get a bit of a lemon?

    Hi Pinelli,

I originally had a 2000 model D2, and went everywhere in it for years.
I had the misfortune of having it stolen, and l did manage to get it back, but was never the same.
So i decided to go to a Jan 05 TDV6, and yes the first model out.
I think the D3 is an amazing car, but l must of ended up with a bit of a lemon.
Replaced at 182000kms, front & rear diffs, torque convertor, rotary coupler, air suspension actuator, 3k of major service, and the list just went on and on.
The buyer of the D3 certainly ended up with a great car, but for me to recoup some part of my expense, l sold the car while it was worth reasonable money.
Now days, l have a Mazda 6 Sport for my wife, 1966 Series 2a, 82 Rangie Classic with Isuzu, and also my lastest touring option, the D2.
    Cheers Dave

    Gidday Ryan,

Good to hear from you !

Here is the CDL kit l purchased.

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

Very easy to install, and comprehensive manual supplied for easy installation.
This company also does upgrade chips for td5 engines.
Remap, a mate who has the mapping software is going to install in a few weeks.
I will let you know how l go.
    Cheers Dave
