    Suspension Stuff 2" kit.

    Evening.
Sorting out my new shocks and springs, and I'm quite tempted by the Suspension Stuff mates rates 2" kit for the D2.
2" Lift MATES RATES KIT for Discovery Series 2, Suspension Stuff
According to the bloke I've been emailing, the weight from the bar, winch and duel batt.s will be enough to detract a little from the lift, which I'm not concerned about, as I'm just looking to avoid having a saggy front end, not be towering over the mortals below
So has anyone had any experience with this kit?
Obviously I'd go for the heaviest duty springs marked as C51-052.
Odd thing is, the site lists these as king springs, but if they're the C51s then according to the catalogue then they're dobinsons...
    So yeah.
    Any thoughts?

    EDIT
The main reason this appeals to me is that it seems to do what I want, and be at a reasonable price.
If necessary, I CAN spend a little more, although every time I bring home a box/ receipt for landie work my mother edges the poison bottle a little closer towards my drink, so if possible I'd like to cut some costs

i bought my first kit from shane @ suspension stuff and think he has good service, mine was lovells spring/shock so different but think they put a good package together.

have a look at terrafirma Sydney 4x4 | 4WD Accessories Sydney | 4x4 Land Rover Parts | 4x4 Accessories Sydney | 4wd accessories online - sydney4x4accessories think you might get close to the price range your looking. i have f/r shocks and they seem ok, for $80 each cannot complain. ask for mark, tell him aulro sent you.

I have heard some raving reviews and some not so good reviewsabout supension stuff, the general concensus seems to be that they are the best budget suspension people out there, and I rate King Springs, so the shocks would be all that i would question

    Cheers

If it helps to compare, I just bought the Lovells Gas Legend II shocks and coils from TMC Wholesale Suspension:

    2 x RFR-32HD front coils
    2 x RRR-8 rear coils
    4 x Lovells Gas Legend shocks to suit (2 x 64612214 and 2 x 64612215)

This combination gives approx 40-50mm lift with 80-100kgs of accessories on the front and no extras or constant rear loads, occasional medium rear loads.

Cost was $760 inc GST (shocks $110 each and springs $80 each)

I'll add to that the bracket that Les Richmond market for dropping the crossmember - White Tiger - 2 options: standard or angled ($55 or $110 plus freight).

This seems like a pretty cheap upgrade to my original, and quite "tired" suspension.

I'm really looking forward to the improved ride comfort and additional clearance over the sills. I might even be tempted to put the side steps back onto the vehicle (at wife's request...).

Are you going to do the fitting yourself Disco Muppet?

That seems to be a good deal, the specs I gave shane at SS meant that I'd be running heavy load ratings all around, given that dad is pretty happy to keep nicking the disco to carry all his guitar amps around
And no, I'd get someone to fit it.
Don't have the necessary tools/ know how for that atm, and besides mum went ballistic when I did the stereo myself, don't know how she'd handle me pulling all the suspension out
one day though, when some poor soul is willing to teach me how to do it.
That way I can do the next LR I bring home myself.....
At night in a shed far away from my mother....
    Scary lady...
So yeah. figured somewhere around $500 or more for fitting...

I bought a kit from Suspension Stuff for my Defender. The springs in my kit are Dobinsons, and I am quite happy with them, good value for money. I am now doing more off road, mostly AULRO day trips, and now I think I would like longer travel shocks and dislocation cones, but the current stuff is doing ok for now.

It took me almost a whole day to fit it, no special tools, just a trolley jack, blocks of wood, spanners and a hacksaw for the left rear shock that had a damaged thread. Each corner was easier than the last and to do it again would be not hard at all, escpecially as the bolts had not been undone in twelve years.

I have SS mates rates, have had them on for a few years now. Only mild 4wd. Have bullbar and winch so HD springs. I think it rides just as well as when new with original suspension. I was a bit dubious about the shocks, they have a plastic / rubber shock protector sleave which I thought looked cheap, but they seem to have held up okay. I have not had any issues with it. I did the install myself took about 8 hours including smoko and lunch breaks. Made up a couple of brackets to mount the ABS lines lower.
