    Tips on removing the radio

Anyone got any tips and advice ffor removing the radio on the D2a (the one with the CD player and the 4 removal holes). Can't find a tool listed anywhere, and tried bamboo skewers without success; got it to come out a little way but seemed stuck on something.

You have to keep pushing the skewers in while you pull the unit out, there is no trick to it.

Try slightly thicker 'skewers' if its not coming out...

    Knitting needles work well

Coat hanger wire bent into a U shape worked for me

From recollection, need to get about 3 to 4 cm of wire into each hole. Sorry, threw mine away a couple of weeks ago, otherwise I could measure the tool setup for you.

I used to use nails of the correct diameter, worked a treat.

I chopped up a coat hanger, and once it clears the tabs I stuck my finger in the tape deck to pull it out, it can be quite tough.
Not sure if it's the same for the CD Player ones, but here are some photos of where the tabs are on mine.

A view of the side, the tabs are quite close to the plastic.

Closer view, the tabs are at the end of the small bits that branch out, if you get what I mean. I can highlight them if you like

    Hope these help.

Thanks to all for replies and suggestions. Special thanks to Larry who PM'ed me and offered to help. Radio is out and new aerial almost fitted. I am installing a window mount aerial as the in-built one is absolutely pathetic on AM, and only marginally better on FM, IMHO.
