Centre Diff lock, forces power to both front and rear axles.
D1 had CDL on the transfer case, and could be activated using the hi/low selector.
Removed the capacity to activate it from in the cabin in the 99 - mid 01 D2s as it still had the internals in the transfer case, just not connected to the lever. mid 01 to mid 02 didn't have either the link to the lever or the internals.
Mid 02 onwards on the facelift D2s had the internals and factory linkages.
So, is yours a D2 or D2a? Look at the headlights and tail lights to check.
If it's a pre facelift 02 then you won't have the internals, so you'd need some transfer case bits from a facelift one to get the CDL.
