    Is my rack too high?

Just after your thoughts on my newly installed roofrack. The rack I already had off my 80 series, I would have liked a D2 one but availabilty and funds wont let me at this stage so I cut the mounts off it and mounted it to 3 x heavy duty crossbars I got off a forum member. My question is, in your opinion do you think its too high on the roof?. I have taken the best pics I can of it and would like your thoughts on it.
    Thanks Steve

Doesn't look like there's a lot of clearance between the rails and the racks so, i dunno what your options are, looks tall, but you'll probably take it off round town won't you???

Thanks Will I need to leave it on as I do use a rack a fair bit. There is around an inch, between the top of the factory rails and the underneath of the crossbar.
    Thanks Steve

Looks good,I wish mine had the space yours has.

Mine has a steped TJM meshed floor job, also my D2 has no front rails.
I find getting straps around the bars is tight so need to feed the clip along the roof.
Also cleaning is a spray soap on and wash off, no way to scrub with a sponge.
    Cheers, Kyle

IMHO yup ! It obviously has great storage capacity, but that may make the vehicle unstable anyway. I would think having a basket that size , even an empty one, would make a serious dent in your fuel economy.

Thanks DM I have'nt had a vehicle for years that I could get into underground carparks .
Thanks Admiral I was/am worried about stability and economy. I took it out first time today highway/urban & some dirt roads and tracks and in some cases hooked into corners quicker than I normally would and with empty roofrack, it did'nt seem any different in handling. Economy, did'nt seem that different either. My guage is pretty much like clockwork as to how many k's I get for various stages on it and I like to fill it right up when filling up and normally get around 100km (give or take 20km) before it drops back to full and today got 118km before it hit the full mark. I know I should have refilled to check properly but it does'nt seem that different ""surprisingly"". I've done 200k for the first notch on the guage. I will have a more acurate idea when I fill up next. Yes I was worried about the effect on economy but my fingers are crossed that its not too much different.
I do have plans on making a deflector up for the front to aid with a bit of better aerodynamics
Its more or less a tourer/tug for me.
