Best price for a VDO Siemens from the UK is around $150 shipped. There is no point installing a cheap one if you care about the D2 running right, so stick to the VDO Siemens or Genuine LR.

Make sure the MAF is cool before you hit it with cleaner. It works by heating one section of the element to 200degC.

Yes. Lockup happens at just above 80km/hr (with the stick in D)

With the stick at 3 lockup occurs at just above 72km/hr. Generally, it won't lockup 3rd gear when the stick is at D unless your loaded, going uphill hard, and it unlocks 4th, revs hard in 4th, can't maintain roadspeed, so it shifts down to 3rd and revs it's tits off in 3rd .... shortly thereafter locking up 3rd but only until the torque developed drops, then it will shift to 4th, and then 4th lockup.

Try it on open steep hilly roads .... 100km/hr on cruise, and just sit back and let it do it's own thing, you'll get how it works pretty easily.

Thanks for that. I was starting to think I would have to get a new torque converter or something like that! Because one of the reasons I got the disco was to tow a camper, and when I drove that empty trailer it worried me a little. Just to clarify what does the locking up refer to? Changing gear? Or something different? Sorry for the ignorance.

    Cheers
