Get a second opinion
So, new 4.6 block and rebuilt top end.
10k since rebuilt, been running rough.
took it into jordan rovertech that rebuilt the motor.
took it for a run and did a pk test and exhaust gas in water.
apparently a head gasket has gone, quoted $4-4.5k to fix.
this is seriously a joke.

Er No warranty on workmanship?took it into jordan rovertech that rebuilt the motor.
I would think you would have a consumer affairs case.
Regards Philip A
Any warranty details in regards to the previous rebuild?
Did they supply all the parts, gasket kits etc..? If so surely they should take some responsibility as it's only been 10K since the rebuild.
+1 on getting a second opinion and do your homework on a potential consumer affairs case. Make sure your receipts are available though.
previous owner supplied a brand new 4.6 block.
JRT stripped the old 4.0 out, installed new block, reconditioned heads and rebuilt it all up.
they send the heads off to another place to be rebuilt, they said only a 5000km warranty on the head work.

How To Get Apple To Replace A Defective Out-Of-Warranty iPhone In Australia | Gizmodo Australia
it is written about iPhones but the legal issues should still apply specifically these extracts.
"How long do consumers’ statutory rights apply?
Statutory rights are not limited to a set time period. Instead, they apply for the amount of time that is reasonable to expect, given the cost and quality of the item.
This means a consumer may be entitled to a remedy under their statutory rights after any manufacturer’s voluntary or extended warranty has expired.
For example, it is reasonable to expect that an expensive television should not develop a serious fault after 13 months of normal use. In this case, the consumer could argue the item was not of merchantable quality and ask for it to be repaired, even if the manufacturer’s voluntary warranty had expired."
ok so you sue the manufacturer of the gasket?
was it faulty workmanship?
was it the block supplied by previuos owner?
was it faulty headwork?
could it be partly all of the above?
how do you prove the cause?
good luck with that.
just took it up with them.
they have a 10k warranty on rebuild.
car has done 11k
however, car had done only 8500kms when i rang and explained issue and owner of JRT said it was fine to keep driving in the 2-3 weeks it took to get booked in.
they've accepted that, and if it ends up it was a fault in their work they should cover it.
if it was block related - since it was client supplied and installed as is - then i have to pay.
i guess that's all i can ask for.
Sounds like a reputable outfit, good result!![]()
