Is your air conditioning on at the time?? I know that on my D1, the thermo fans ran when the air conditioning was on.
Last few weeks I have noticed that my Auxillary fan in front of the rad is running when i pull up after a short journey. The engine is solid at running temp etc. However, the bottom house to the Rad is cool so the Thermostat has not opened.
Why would the front fan kick in if there is no coolant running through the rad?

As you say, the thermostat sounds like it's not opening at temp, if so the engine temp itself is high and tripping off the front fan as it's supposed to.
With hot weather around the corner I'd think i'd start by putting a new thermostat in and double checking all your rad hoses feel the same at normal running temp

That about the one required? And is there a trick to the D2 to be able to have the fan on but just drawing natural air in, without turning the aircon on? or is the aircon constant? (I find the heater/.cooler controls more confusing than t he D1)
Hi Michelle,
There is a button on the climate control "ECON", short for economy
If ECON is selected it will blow plain air through the vents without running the aircon pump,
With ECON button off it will run the aircon pump as required depending on what temp you have selected. it will show on the digital display whether "ECON" IS selected or not.
hope this makes sense, this is how it works on my 99 D2.
Robgw's question was relating the the condensor/thermo fan near the front of the radiator, which comes on with the aircon, or if the engine temp itself is getting hot.
Cheers
