    DVD Player no go

    Hi all

I am having some issues with the DVD player in my 2003 disco the one with the unit under the seat and the screen on the roof between the front seats.
the kids were watching a movie in the carpark (While waiting for someone to get out of the shops !!!) with the car in accessory mode and when the engine was started the movie would not load and the error was
WRONG REIGON and then it ejects the disk.
I have tried reseting the region to Defult , UK and US and no luck.
has anyone had any simular issues or more to the point solved the problem.
I am starting to think it may be broken

    Thanks

    Mick

    Doesn't sound good.
I have replaced mine with a media player with a HDD loaded with movies.
No need to carry DVDs now, easy for kids to watch what they want and change on the go.
Pretty much plug and play to install.

Is it in the same location?, does it use the existing screen?
    Interested in upgrading mine

I'm interested in this upgrade too!

Here's a good possibility - this one for $30 gets good reviews:

Mini 1080P Full HD Media Player with AV/YPrPb/HDMI/USB/SD/MMC - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Just needs a 5V supply and then plugs into the RCA plugs that go to the roof mounted screen.

    Cheers

Got to agree with a media player, rather than DVD

I looked at doing the same with my DVD player under the seat, as a HDD or stick can hold a lot of videos. The Western Digital unit has a 12v input, so it can plug straight in, without the need for a 12 to 5v step down. The main issue is where to put the unit so the remote works and the USB connector is readily accessible, although an extension cable can address the cable issue quite easily.

In the end, I put a DVD player into the front of the car, as I wanted a screen for the reversing camera. I put a feed from this to the back screen, so if a music clip with video is on the USB stick or SD card that the media screen (or a DVD if I'm desperate) is playing the front can hear it and the back seats can see and hear it, if someone is in the back. I used the 2nd input into the DVD splitter. I don't recall the last time I used a disc in the car, but it would have been at least 2 years ago. A USB stick will hold lots of music or quite a few videos. I have about 5 2Gig to 8 Gig units in the coin tray.

The media centre is pretty easy to plug in, as the audio plugs are all colour coded, same as the back of the TV.

I had the same problem. I pulled the unit out and sent it to Go Technologies in Scoresby Victoria (they may have offices in other states). It cost me $100 to get it fixed as region free.

The unit I have is a Patriot Box Office Media Player.

Cost under $100 + hard drive. The beauty of this one is it had Wi-Fi so I can add and remove movies while it is in the car in the driveway. Can also plug in additional external HDD or usb thumb drive.

Plugs directly into AV leads for the DVD player and runs on 12v.
