pull it out and then blast some air into the outlet holes.
Being new to the TD5 it was only recently that I became aware that there should be a whine as the CF spins down when you turn the engine off.
I haven't had that since I did an oil change (genuine centrifugal filter) and my oil went black after about 1000km.
I pulled the cover off the CF and it spins really easily on the shaft, so I was wondering if there are other reasons why its not (I assume) doing its job?
Any help appreciated (2000 td5 179000km, oil change done at 170000km)
Cheers,
Alex

Hey Alex. The "whine" is proportional to how "out-of-balance" the rotor filter is. My first one never made a sound ... my second one whined like a bitch ... my current one only makes the slightest noise on wind down.
Hold the engine revs above idle for a bit to get the filter spinning, then immediatley shutdown with your head above the rotor filter housing ... helps if you have an assistant.
