    Winch Bar Pictures

Here is my attempt at a rear winch bar, damaged the plastic skin at the W4Challange and dented the panel below the tail light but what fun. rear winch is a Warn 9000lb; front winch is Warn 12000lb.

Top effort. Glad to see someone having a go at something different. I have the following observations though:
You seem to have compromised your departure angle considerably as the whole shebang seems pretty low.
The recovery hitch at the bottom, is that also the tow hitch? If so is it something you have made? A towbar has to be engineered, rated and display a label stating its max tow and towball weight.
Is the benefit of having a rear winch worth the above?

As I said though, top job and well done.
    Cheers

The D2 has been raised 4" the tow hitch is 50mm lower than the original, but after putting it altogether it could have been the same height as the original, by making the winch box tighter and lifting it to the top of the bumper, the box is welded to the original tow bar frame with a bit of chopping and I used 8mm steel plate, it was welded by a coded welder. my mate is an engineer and says it will pass certification but as I just finished it on Friday morning and I have not got around to this yet. I originally was going to wrap 50mm tube around as the bumper but it took away from the rear end D2 look, then I started to fabricate a steel panel bumper but this to detracted the D2 look as well. My mate had a brain wave and we decided that it would look good with the original bumper, so I spent half a day chopping and trying to get it to look right; and I am happy with the end result. I have a 350A and a 50A Anderson plug wired up for power and jumper leads, I have still to wire the front Anderson plugs. I used 70mm2 welding flex to power the winch, because of power loss. The end result made it a very rewarding mod. I can get underneath and take more detailed pics if anyone wants to have a go themselves....Thanks for the feedback
