    D2 Windscreen pic

    hi all, i know its been done to death but could someone please post up a picture of their genuine Land Rover optikool windscreen. (large shot of whole screen and a closeup of the markings in the corner)

    This would be awesome as im going through hell with insurance and need proof.

    Hi Matt.

    Here's four photos ...

    1st is the whole windscreen.
    2nd is the Optikool Decal
    3rd & 4th show the chequered band that goes the whole circumference of the windscreen AND around the rearview mirror mount.

    After much time wasted on the phone, I now have a genuine screen on the way up from Melbourne.

    Nice to see you received a genuine Pilkington windscreen. My insurance stated an Australian Standards look a like. Grateful for the name of your insurance company for next year.

    NRMA, but it certainly wasnt easy. The policy dictates that after market parts may be used but only if of same spec as original. So i had to prove to them that the oem glass was different to obriens glass.
    Obriens said it was the same (of course)
    The first muppet I spoke to at Land Rover also said it was the same
    Finally got them to speak to a bloke at the local dealers who put them straight.

    am I a bad mommy to my D2 because I just went with whatever the windscreen mob put on for me, considered myself lucky at the cheap price, and am very happy with the result that doesnt leak lol?

    Lucky you. My Disco has an aftermarket screen with a blue tint at the top. This may not be a problem if you are under 6ft, but its a PITA to see out of when your 6'2. I can't wait I need to replace it.
    I have used non gen screens for years and never had a problem. I think a lot depends on the installer.
    A gen screen must have cost them a fortune. I know the ones I sell at work are not cheap but I dont think there is much if any difference in quality.

    ... And an Optikool glass windscreen has NO aftermarket equivalent. Go and read up on what Optikool is ... And the UV light sensor on the dash reads through the windscreen glass.

    Those two points alone were sufficient to get YOUI to do me a genuine screen when I made my claim .... But it did take some push & shove ..... I saw the invoice for the screen at obriens .... Just shy of $1k fitted.
