    My new 03my TD5

Hi all, just got back from Melbourne after collecting my D2.
After a recent trip to the Cape in my D1 V8i I was really pleased with everything it did considering we were also towing nearly a ton of camper trailer and gear.
ONE thing was VERY clear on the trip. I needed longer range and better water crossing ability. I was lucky enough to meet up with a fellow disco owner in a D2 TD5 who was also towing and went everywhere I did but didn't have the problems I had with some of the deeper crossings and he never seemed to stop for fuel.
Once I got home I decided to start looking for a TD5. I wanted one with both traction control as well as central diff locking so was limited in year models. After a bit of time I found one in a dealers yard in Melbourne (I live in north Queensland) and contacted the dealer. After a bit of a chat he gave me the previous owners number and we also had a bit of a chat and in the end I decided to go ahead with the purchase after having the RACV inspect the vehicle.
It has a comprehensive and full service history and from being able to talk to the previous owner I found out more than I would have about it's history.
It has An ARB bar, 12000lb Iron Man winch, Night Stalker spotties, side steps, snorkel, VHF, reversing camera, Anderson plugs front and rear, rear Narva LCD camp lights on rotating pole ,dual batteries, DVD player and quite a bit more. The dissapointing part is that the previous owner didn't think to upgrade the suspension with all the weight he added to the front and I bottomed the suspension bumper stops a cpl of times on the way home.
Having said that, I had a great trip home and love the fuel economy. I filled up twice after Sydney and had just on half a tank when I got home, 2000km.
First mods, will be a remap and exhaust, after I lift it of course.
Will post some pics when I get it lifted.
    Cheers, Rick.
