I've been speaking with Phil at TRS and his comment was the manifold warping on a TD5 is a common fault, they see it frequently. They do just as many std ones as upgrades, there seems to be many theories why it happens & how to permanently fix it ... and have they have tried all of them.Quote:

Should be interesting. The torque tube approach doesn't seem to be something that has been used by local companies. I replaced my manifold last year with a machines one from AMV which hasn't shown any signs of warping as yet.
Not sure if its been mentioned yet - you should go back and torque the manifold nuts after driving for a week or two. I did mine about two months after and found several nuts that needed extra tensioning to get them up to spec.

Blown exhaust manifold gaskets have always been a problem on tuned TD5 engines, but not anymore...thanks to JE! Fit the JE Stud Kit and exhaust gasket problems will be a thing of the past. Comprises ten longer studs, ten nuts, ten spacers and a new manifold gasket. Worth considering for a Stage 1 tune and near-essential for Stage 2 up.

The DIY-ers will know that the likelihood of extracting the original studs without breaking at least one is remote! Then you will more than likely find that the manifold is warped. JE thus offer a complete fitting service for the faint-hearted.

when is got mine in 07 there was one or two studs snapped.
bruce davies in sydney replaced all with m10?? bolts and not had an issue since. i have always had a davies chip and now running a td5inside map, no issues since with studs and manifold is all good. :)

Yes, got mine a couple of weeks ago. I don't have an immediate need to do the change. I did discover I have a collapsed passenger side engine mount so I'll do the studs at the same time.Quote:
