You will have to change the plug or get some Falcon 4 wire sockets from the wreckers and make an adapter to the LR socket.
We'll see how the MAF goes. Can't be much worse than the $300 "good" one sourced locally which goes off after a year or so.

Have just been running some tests on the MAF as per Justinc's post in the good oil , Idle readings seem good , mid range slightly erratic and upper levels erratic readings, good bad, good good, bad bad etc and when holding at a steady 2000 odd rpm, it seems to spike the revs 400+ occasionally. Have not checked the oil level yet, but I think the MAF is sus anyway. I agree with the EBAY listings. It is buying blind as the quality does vary quite a lot with pattern parts, more so with electrical bits.
I have got 2 of the same items at diff erent times , and 1 will fail quickly and the other goes forever!! So the run I get out of an ebay maf may exceed yours by years, or it may fail in 10 days :o :( However I do believe branded stuff is the go for critical bits, will just see what BOR wants for 1 .
I have been told about the overfilling trick with these "sealed" autos be fore and for sure you can not beat a hand built item by a perfectionist! :)

Oki,An update , I have checked oil level in box, all good, ran out even with the nose up on ramp. Pulled MAF off and checked it, Looks clean and could almost say its not very old, although nothing in the services. Maf readings are all within specs 560+ on hills, 58-63 idle .Filter was very dirty, must fit that snorkel!:o Changed it .
Upshot is the symtoms are the same, but not all the time. Hesitation when D or any gear selected, noticed the motor 'hunting' on hills, revs surgeing on occasions.
Am wondering if it is the xyz switch although no lights or errors showing up. I think this started after I drove across the creek at the house and the water was bottom of door deep. All in all very annoying as no error messages showing to indicate a fault but there definatly one there. So doing some deeep navel gazing at the moment about it :D
Am going to check the injector loom tommorow although it is only newish.

Just a thought, is it possible that the low range indicator switch would have any thing to do with auto engagement? I know the selector has to be in P or N to engage LR .

The switch won't really effect it, the auto needs to be in P or N only to assure that you're not moving (or to any real degree (<5km/h)) when engaging low. There's no mechanical lockout system in place to prevent it.
OK Have got a can of electrical contact cleaner and checked and cleaned plugs on, injector loom,( no oil) ECU , the MAF and its attendent connections, All making no difference to the problem. It is still acting the same.
It really is as though it drops into neutral. Sticky solenoids maybe? Whatever it is it is getting mildly annoying :) I think my next attack is remove and check the xyz switch, even though none of its normal symtoms show up.
The LR switch was a thought. The more I g back the more I think it is somehow related to that water crossing. Never did any water before with it.

Hi jc, It has 224000ks and I think if the rest of the car is to judge normal driving, no offroad more than odd dirt I think. No heavey towing as the towbar was not worn at all.

AHH well, It seems the consensus with the box is it needs a rebuild! dang it!! Knew the beast was going tooo well for its own good . Was sorta hoping with the way it had been treated it would have went for a little while longer.

Had something similar with mine, I fixed the problem with changing the auto filter and oil 4 times, on the 3rd time the auto was back to new worked perfectly my opinion is that the filter was sucking some air in and causing the problems plus oldish oil I was using penrite SINATF They stop making it now using ZF original oil in my auto,
My d2 has done nearly 300,000km... Have not touched it...
When I was having problems with my auto 2 auto expert told me it was stuffed.... Changed oil 4 times and it came good again...
