In reality it's a mongrel of a job if you are trying to reuse the existing trims.
I think you need to have the gutter trim in place. It's marginally easier if you have the clips fitted to the body seam rather than the trim. From memory you need to have the edge that sits in the door frame roughly in place. It requires a bit of pushing a shoving but you should be able to maneuver the plastic lugs into position then press them into the clips.
It's not much fun, but if you take your time you'll be able to do it. But don't force the trim into the clips unless you are 100% they are lined up.
Agree, mongrel job. Fit gutter trim first. I fitted the clips to the trim, and put the side closest the pillar in place. Took strong wrists and fingers to pull the trim (not so much pull but stretch or bend) towards the window till the clips aline with the metal seam. Helps if someone else can look along the trim to help with the alignment. Once on, won't come off without breaking the plastic clips on the trim (in my experience) so don't push all the way home until you sure everything is aligned properly.
Use the bottom of wrist to smack the cover by it's outer ege where it curves in towards the pillar. It simply pops out perpendicular to the pillar. Don't be afraid to smack it very hard - otherwise it won't pop out.
These covers are designed to be smacked into the pillar very quickly at the assembly line. So you've got to imagine doing the opposite to get it out.
Who was the screen fitter?
Novus fitted mine free of charge. And they had a similar issue with the driver's side, the passenger side was done in 30secs....easy
