    Bonnet release stuck

Trying to start work on the Disco.
    Pull the bonnet release.....nothing.
Tried jiggling the bonnet nicely all the way up to near deformation from pushing the bonnet up and down in the hope it will release....FAIL!!!

Is there a fix or has anyone got some suggestions??

    Cheers,

    Jason

The one time I was faced with that problem on a customer's D2 I got a thin chisel (sharpened flat screwdriver) and cut off the plastic pocket that protects the underside of the bonnet catch, Then I could manipulate the lever from through the grille. Tricky but took 1/2 hour approx. There was a distance piece in the bonnet cable made of nylon that had broken. It was replaced with a crimped scrap of copper tube from memory.

G'Day Jason. Been there, dinted that.
If you have a steel bar like me, you can look up from underneath and see if the mechanism is intact and the cable is connected.
If so, you might just have a stretched cable.
The release catch has 2 positions to allow for this. unhook the release end and move it to the rearward position of the 2.
If it is already there, you will need to space it at the catch end as per the directions in the previous post.
If all is ok there, it might just be a sticky catch.
Have a helper pull the release in the cab and reach up with a long screwdriver to 'encourage' it open.
Spray and check the adjustment of the spring that pushes the bonnet up. It might not have enough tension to push up as you release the catch.
You will need a large shifter to unlock the lock nut and a blade driver to screw the pin up or down as applicable. Experiment with the tension.
    Hope that makes sense.
    DAve.

Thankyou, the bonnet is now open.
I will look at the adjustment.
