    West Coast Suspension

Hi all. I ordered a set of iron man front springs 40mm lift and have been told that there is a wait on stock. The company have offered me a set of West coast suspension front springs in place.

I have never heard of west coast suspension and was wondering if anyone can give some feedback on there suspension stuff.

    Cheers

    Dave

Can't seem to find anything bad about them, they make their own gear and from what a few people who are using them say, nothing bad about them. That said, not alot of people I can find use them.
Give them a go, if not give Suspension Stuff a call, I use their gear and it's fantastic, free freight and it arrived quicker than express post

Personally, I prefer the King Springs. They're made from high quality steel and you can see how this benefits them in their weight and less coils. I have the HD's in the front of my D2a as part of my 4" suspension lift.
I found the Ironman springs to be not very well designed. They are missing the flat spot on the bottom of the front springs to locate on the spring seat. And the top of the front springs is round, not flattened like the OEM springs.
I can't comment on the rear Ironman springs though.
I can't comment on West Coast Suspension, but I'd definitely look at alternatives to the Ironman springs. There shock absorbers have been great, but disappointed with their spring designs.

I have WCS shocks and springs in my D2, they have been fantastic. I originally had EFS put in by them and had 3 shock rubbers go on the front left side. Each time they replaced no questions asked even though EFS did not warrant the last time. They now do their own shocks which they again fitted to my car free of charge as they stopped selling the EFS because of problems they had experienced. They also replaced the rear shocks at a minimal cost (I had originally specified a medium load) and as I started to add rear bars and draws the weight increased in the rear causing sagging when loaded. The service has been great give me a call if you need any info...Aaron 0411 870 008

    ...

Aren't these the same coil design that was discussed a while back??? Bush65 gave a good critique, saying that the steel would be more highly stressed in such a design.

    40mm lift done

Well I fitted up my lift kit early December 2012 and the verdict 2 months later is pretty much exactly what I wanted.

For the first few weeks the front end was very high (about 55mm higher than before lift) and I was worried about driveline angles etc.

The front springs have now settled to about the 40mm mark and the vehicle rides and handles well.

I ended up using heavy duty 40mm lift West Coast Suspension front springs with a set of 40mm airbag spacers from Island 4x4 in the UK.

I am very glad that I kept the rear airbags and didn't convert to rear springs. There was a few mixed emotions on this forum about which way to go.

I also put a set of terrafirma long travel shocks on the front and rear. I was a bit indecisive about these shock as they are extremely cheap compared to the big names in australia. I will keep the forum posted on how these go over time. All in all they ride well and the vehicle is stable and doesn't bounce around on the airbags like the genuine shocks did.

Anyway this post if more for my verdict on the rear spacer choice over spring conversions. It was quite easy and worth keeping the airbags in my opinion.

The whole job cost me $665.00 including freight plus a few hours of my time.

    West Coast Suspension

Thanks for that. I used WCS a few times in the past on classic cars (my username is a giveaway) but never considered them for my D2a.

I've been tossing up over a lift on mine as its airbag (HSE) but was worried about spacing the SLS would make it wobble even more. I might give them a call.

I purchased the WCS springs from Ebay.....and they might not know anything about the rear airbag spacers. I got them from England as per my post. No probs with wobbles drives very well. Let me know if you need any info.

    Cheers
