Thread: Oil changes

Hi All,

Can someone please tell me the frequency of oil changes?

Disco ii 2000 td5 auto with extended transfer case cover (like the UK guy?).

Engine: 10,000 kms - Valvoline NextGen Diesel 15W-40
Auto: 10,000 kms or 40,000 kms - Valvoline ATF DX-3
Diffs: ???
Transfer case: ???

The 10K oil changes are as per recommended on the Arduous service schedule on the second page.

If you are doing the engine oil at 10K intervals, Diffs and Transfer case should be done at 20K.

I'd do the Auto at 20K intervals also. You only drop about 50% of the fluid on a normal change so it should help keep the fluid fresh.

I've been using Penrite throughout:
HPR Diesel 5 for the engine
TRANS GEAR 75W-90 for Diffs and Transfer case.

Penrite have changed the naming on the ATF since I did mine last, so not sure what the equivalent is now.

I replaced the auto oil as per the UK site. At the same time I replaced the transfer cover with an extended version and replace the oil, and I did both diffs, too.

My next 10k service will have to do all of it: engine, auto, transfer and diffs.
