Gday well there is a couple of things you can do. 1 is disconnect the pipe from exhaust manifold and make a blanking plate, leaving the EGR in place but this will cause slight restriction so you can remove the EGR with a removal kit from Ebay and just block the vacuum line for the EGR, this wont bring an engine light on. Its also worth while removing the inlet manifold and cleaning all the carbon sludge out, up to you. Its all a very easy operation. TIP be VERY careful removing the two bolts from the EGR pipe to the manifold, they are only small bolts and could easily snap then you would have to remove the exhaust manifold ect pain in the bum, just work them out couple of turns out then back in ect.
Good luck

The first thing to do is source a kit ... I bought mine from Td5Alive in the UK for $80 dilivered. It comes with everything you need except for the 4mm vacuum hose blanks which you can get from SupaCheapAuto.
Follow the linked instructions posted by Alpick ... should take a couple of hours max!

And socket allen key heads are a must for removing the egr bolts at the manifold, soak the bolts with anti sieze over a couple of days before you do the job.
better than snappin them off!
have fun.
