    Alloy Rear Bumper ?

Does anyone know if there is an alloy replacement for the "plastic fantastic " rear bumper ? Currently mine is held together with duct tape and the idea of a lighter than steel bar appeals and a quick look across the web has been fruitless so far. Thanks.

Haven't come across a commercial one, but justfishing is playing with the idea at the moment. How do I know - I'm one of the 2 test subjects.

I would be happy just to find a new or at least a good second hand plastic for my D2

My D2 rear bumper was very much the same as Trog's. I did the ring around and found it hard to find a good second hand unit. Spoke to the stealer who wanted $600'ish for the plastic surround plus freight. Then got put onto Lynn rover in WA who had a new steel bumper (rover craft I think) for less than $600 which included delivery to Townsville. My D2 now has a steel bumper which looks good when matched upto an ARB front bar.

    Hi Trog
I've made a few of these myself (I have a custom fabrication business), once powdercoated they are very durable and look the goods with a set of LED's mounted. However they are not cheap, the last few I have made have worked out at around $1800. Not as expensive as an ARB unit, but I would not go lifting it with a high lift, they are alloy after all.

(sorry I'm not real good at taking lots of pics.

    Cheers

I have my plastic front and rear bars in the garage for sale. In Melb, pm me if you are interested. Front one came off when car was new '02 and been in shed since, rear came off 2 years ago.

A very nice looking piece of work. The finances at this time dont allow for any outlay but it is nice know there is a middle groung between the plastic and steel.
