Sticky wastegate? Td5
Just recently had the turbo solenoid replaced and since then have what I can only describe as mild surging under load. The taco goes up and down about 250-300rpm from about 2,500rpm.
Just wondering of it's a sticky wastegate and how to fix it?
I just got told that you can't buy the actuator seperately from LR.... they only supply it with a whole turbo! (this according to AMV Automotive)
Apart from the surging the car runs fine.
Any ideas/suggestions as always much appreciated.

Check the hose from the pipe running between turbo and intercooler to the wastegate modulator.
I'd replaced the wastegate modulator and hoses a few months ago and got the overboost hop going up the hill coming out of Genoa a couple of weeks ago.
Initally I dismissed the possibility of it being the hoses or modulator. When I finally checked the hoses the one to the modulator had gone soft, and sheared off a few mm above the barb it pushes onto. Note to self: Super****auto 4mm vacuum hose is junk.
Given that the modulator has been recently replaced, check all three hoses connected to the modulator just to be sure!!
cheers
