What you did wrong was to not replace the injector harness while you had the cover off. Buy yourself a new one.
(BTW, I do hope you removed the harness and did not degrease it whilst it was still on the engine. )
G'day all,
I just replaced the rocker cover gasket to fix the oil leak there, and while I had the rocker cover off I decided to degrease/clean oil from the injector harness on the assumption that it was the cause of it running rough at idle.
Now it feels/sounds like its only running on 4 cylinders all the time
What have I done wrong?? HELP!!
Cheers,
Alex

sorry , thought I better ask.
Hmm, acetone probably not the best choice of cleaner, it may have melted some of the plastic parts or sealants in the connectors, Brake Parts Cleaner or CRC Contact Cleaner is the go. All the same I'd go out & buy a new upgraded harness.
Any problems driving it like this?
Oops my bad with the acetone
Is it a constant miss?
If so it posible that one of the injector plugs has come off.
Might be worth pulling the R/Cover off to check.
Acetone is fantastic for welding plastic. I used it to repair a broken mount inside the drivers side mirror. You just wet the both sides where the plastic contacts and press together. When the acetone evaporates it leaves the pieces welded together.
I hate to think what it did to the loom insulation.
Got a new loom coming in the post. Hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow or Wednesday. when it does I'll fit it & hopefully no more miss/rough running![]()
fitted the new loom this arvo, using contact cleaner where the loom exits the engine & the red plug on the ECU - no evidence of oil, just thought JIC - problem fixed![]()
