Steering box bolts tight?

Have you had the vehicle on a hoist, or jacked the body up recently? I have heard some big horrendous bangs in the past as a spring slips back in to its seat, can be a few days after the event, too.
( I like any high quality boutique beer, preferably european...)
JC
Had you been offroad prior to this happening? Any chance that it could have been the CDL not disengaging, and coming out with a bang.
:lol2: Geez you guys must be thirsty:beer: :p. Seriously though, some good points to check there. :)
Not been on a hoist or jack recently (AFAIK memory can get a little hazy  :)
Not locked the diff, haven't had the need to :p
I'll check all these things and give a report :D
checked your wheel nuts :p
Hello Disco Muppet,
Does your vehicle have sls and ace??
I seem to remember something similar to this a while back and it turned out to be something to do with the ace system resetting or self testing itself.
My vehicle has ace and every morning, around abouts the same distance/time down the road there is a thump under the drivers footwell. It was explained about the ace system back then(a year or two ago).
Use 'search' and you might find something a bit more comprehensive than what I have tried to describe.
Cheers,
Jason
still got your axle counterweight.
most likely a spring reseat if you were twisting it up, Big red used to do it, only ever on the drivers side front after Id crossed it up on front left and rear right though.
No ACE, no SLS :( (just to keep OffTrack happy :p )
AFAIK the counterweight is still there.
I haven't been doing much extreme travel, skirted some decent sized ruts through smaller ones, but that could really only be described as mild at the most.
and the shocky side bush failing in the shock tower.
