    steering 28mm stops

    Hi all,

I am going to shorten the steering stops from 28 to 23mm but am having trouble unbolting them, they start to unscrew with a spanner but then get tighter and tighter, are they threaded right through the casting, if so, do I take off the disc rotor to get access to the end of the thread to clean it, I guess this is what is stopping them coming out.

    Cheers

The are loctited and were a **** to remove.

They should wind out with a bit of effort.

Mine were the same. I just unwound them until tight them sprayed with WD40 wound back in, and repeated until they came out.

Instead of cutting mine I replaced them with a M10 bolt with a nut to lock it in place.

This lets you set them to the right lenght depending on tyre size, without cut too long cut too long cut too short
