Economy ... before and after chip

    Hi Guys

I can now report back some good news regarding the economy of my Td5 manual after the TRS chip install.

    Before - 11 ltrs per 100kms
    After - 10.5 ltrs per 100kms.

So ... if my calculations are correct ... the chip will have paid for itself in just under 86000kms. SWEET!

    Well worth the price IMHO!

Have a safe and happy xmas!

    Craig

Did I detect a note of humour, sarcasm there

......or maybe it could be better if you drove a bit nicer instead of being tempted by the better gogo.

I've just done mine and it's hard not using the loud pedal more, but I'm trying to get a realistic comparison....but I certainly can't complain about the gogo when it's needed....mines a Bruce Davis chip though.

    Cheers

Hmm, not much of a difference. Probably within the error margin and not a statistically significant difference. Huch much did it cost?

Around $600 for the chip and the new chip stats are taken from 4 fill-ups.

Mate, when you drive, can you feel the response difference? If you can then that's good, because that shows you are using more power and still getting better economy..

As a comparison, I've driven piggy back type chips on other cars and yes they go better....and I am not talking flogging them here, just normal driving....but they all used more fuel, so these ecu models will be interesting to compare.

You might find a long trip gives better results (when compared to previous long trips). City driving is always hit n miss with economy comparisons.

It's too early for me to tell if I have any economy gains yet, still on my first half tank....but I am more than happy with the throttle response and power....if I get some economy as well....that would be great, but I'm not actually worried if I don't....as long as its not increased...by much anyway.

    Cheers and merry Xmas
