I custom made this one it wasn't very hard.
Strong enough for a heavy duty antenna.
Remove spare tyre,fabricate bracket from 30mm angle and spacers,using existing tyre internal nuts and longer bolts,turned adaptors for the steel tube.

Cripes! :O They charge you per sq mm for pics do they?

Michaelp I'm not sure what you mean by the steel tube adaptors.Your picture, whilst very welcome, was too small to make anything out.but thanks any way. Are the spacers packing to keep the spare suqare to the wheel carrier?

Sorry about the picture the max file size is confusing even for a techy.
But even with a better picture most of it is hidden.
But i did have to custom make it and it is a good spot for an antenna base.
I could do a drawing up if needed.

Something maybe worth thinking about, and it doesn't answer your question. I'd only bullbar mount them otherwise they will smash into everything out on the road and when parking. For a similar $value it may be worth considering a lighter bonnet mounted aerial.

What Slunnie said. A spring mounted will wave around a lot offroad, to the extent a rear mounted will probably slap your roof a lot O_O , scaring the bejesus outa ya! unless you extend the mount so as the base is level with the roofline. Michelalp's is a rigid antenna so would not have that prob.

As an alternative to a Bull Bar you could get one of those spot light mount bracket that fit behind the number plate. Most auto stores have them and would make a good base.

Mine is on the bull bar and there's an added benefit that the tip of the aerial is just a little higher than the roof rails so when going into parking buildings, if the aerial makes it under the rest of the car will too.
