Here you go. These are from when I just bought it. It is the SRT8 model, which is their most powerful. It has a 392 Hemi with a 6 spped manual with a Hurst shifter. Stock it has right around 475 horse but with some mods and a tune I am pushing just over 500 now. I am going to put a supercharger on it this next fall and should have well over 600 horse.

Here is my lowley Disco with a whooping 180 horse .

I am not quite finished with my external portion of my build as I am in the process of adding rock sliders , winch, a light bar and bush cables. Also doing some interior mods. One part that sucks about the US and owning a Land Rover is lack of access to expedition equipment or engine performance parts. I can get some of the basics, but that is all. Everything else I have to try and get shipped from Europe.

hmm, hemi. love the 'stay true to the original look' of the modern challengers, particularly the hoodline above the headlamps and bonnet vents/ shape. very nice.

disco looks the goods, and yes they are a bit sluggish in 4 litre guise with taller tyres. But i'm assuming it is the 4.6 engine though? we never got that option, iirc you guys didn't get the 4 litre often in the hse etc? has it got secondary air injection too? if so, there is apparently little to be done for performance upgrades as regards mapping unless someone over there has developed a motronic work around for that system. iirc the only other option is to get the engine ecu etc from a non sec air vehicle, and map that. i got a remap for a 4 litre d2 done here and the owner is happy with the extra torque, he is running 32" tyres and says performance when towing etc is now back to his standard diameter tyre days. you should expect more joy if you have a 4.6 hi compression engine, though.
also, simon is right on with those pics, the exhaust system is an abomination.

Land Rover, Range Rover, Discovery + all vehicle make and models service and repairs

these guys are worth a contact, is where i sent the ecu for mapping.

Yes, mine is a 4.6l with secondary air. From 2003 on we had the 4.6 installed. I dont intend on anything too wild as far as mods so I hope my ECU can handle it. Here is the place I was looking at for a cam.
RPi Engineering - V8 Engine and Component List

I might also buy one of their power ignition amps. I do agree, the exhaust is a must! I never realized how poor it was.

Thought you guys might enjoy a picture of my Discovery while I am out working. Our temperatures vary widely from -80 degrees below 0 Fharenheit to 110 degrees above. On this day it was -10.

Mmmmmmmm. Drooling over the Challenger, if only they were even slightly affordable over here!!!

Can someone tell me what the secondary air system is?

And another hijack question along the same lines. I have a 4.6 in my D2 with the safari snorkel. I have always wondered if the 4.6 can get enough air via the snorkel? Does anyone have any opinions.

    Heaps of info here.

It is worth noting that it CAN be removed in some states IF the laws allow, but a non SAI ECU mut be retro fitted to avoid MIL lamp being on all the time etc.

Yes I am on the prairies. The particular area I am at on that day is called the Badlands. I am an archaeologist. Furthest I ever worked your direction was Samoa.

    Nice vehicles mate.

In terms of the original question I have just had my stock d2 4.0 v8 manual worked on. It has the same 200,000 k bottom end that was in very good condition but now it has a second level up from stock Crow cam, and port matched inlet and exhaust ports. Definitely has more torque and power. Not massively so but certainly more go than a well kept 4.6 p38a Range Rover I've been in. It tows my 2 tonn boat a lot better too. Not much difference off idle but very noticeable in the 2000 onwards segment.

    Cheers

Thanks! Thats what I am looking for. I tow a dog trailer for hunting, and need it to pull a little better after I raised it.

Thanks again everyone. Seems like a really good site. Lots of info! I am digging through all the pages on here and really enjoying it.

That's typical, an archaeologist that likes digging through for information.
