Yeah i got quoted $450 for one key by the LR dealer in Brisbane. Bit too exxy for me.

I'd like to also know if the nanocom can help me program the keys to the car.

    Can anyone advise?

A nanocom can program the key.

From experience the CWE100690KIT key works fine in a D2 2003. (Does in mine anyway)

Pretty sure you can use both for that matter.

I ordered two from this place in the last 4 years or so. Britcar (UK) Ltd > Your Search Results

Looks like they have gone up a bit from when I bought them. Pretty sure I purchased mine for about $130 each and the Dealer quoted $370 each at the time.

I'm with you, stay clear of the Dealer. They are in dream drop land.

    Regards
    Andrew

The lock button rubber on my key broke off today which is a bit annoying. I ordered a new casing off eBay. Looks like I can swap over the actual metal key part which means I shouldn't have to visit a lock smith...

True, the genuine blades are generally better anyway.

Cool- thanks Andrew. Now comes the next question: Is it worth buying a nanocom?

Also the age old discussion of nanocom v hawkeye... For another day I think!

Thanks everyone for their input. It's helped a lot!

I'll be honest with you. I don't have one but there's a lot of guys on here that do. Pretty sure it's all tied up with the Green Oval fetish.

At the end of the day it depends on what you want to achieve with it. I personally think it's a bit of a tool for people who suffer from paranoia, and in all fairness, pretty sure this applies to most people who have D2 and actively participate in this forum.

I don't plan on buying one at this stage plus in the time that I've owned a D2 (~7 years) I haven't need to use it enough to justify the cost. (I would have only used it twice, other than to just stuff around and possibly check out the police function )

On the upside they appear to be getting cheaper by the day.

There is also tech stuff you maybe interested in. Check this out.

That said, at $400 for a Nanocom, when you compare it to the dealer charge it may become more worthwhile to purchase one.

Just be careful about ordering a key from anyone.

I just sent back a new key from USA because there was no code. To be fair he gave me my money back, but he knew nothing about the code. He just kept going on about how a dealer could program it. I told him they couldn't without the code. But it appears to have fell on deaf ears, as he is still trying to sell them.

There is a secondhand one on ebay at the moment which also has no code.

Hey Andrew, in what form did the code come from Britcar? Was it by barcode, or a circuit board label?

Looks like Karcraft is the way to go.

New key has just arrived from Karcraft. There is a barcode attached to it so no problem there.

I'm going to get it programed first to ensure it works before cutting the blade - just incase something odd happens and I can't program it.

Can anyone help me program it with a Nanocom in the Brisbane area. Obviously will travel to you with a case of beer in the fridge
