What is the number of the fuse you have been replacing?
Hi all, in our latest family holiday i have had issues with fuses blowing as per above.
We have had the gps plugged in, two sca oscillating fans (one for the front to push cool air more effectively around the cabin and one in the cargo area for the little one).
Everything is being drawn from the front cig plug at present.
We've managed to plug in one dvd player but as soon as the second gets plugged in the fuse keeps blowing on the gearbox transmission sensor (manual).
The fuses have been replaced with 20amp ones on both occasions.
So my questions are.
Why would the fuse be blowing on the gearbox transmission sensor and not the cig plug (front) which is where i'd have thought power would be drawn from and how are the two related if they should be at all?
With the cig plug in the cargo area, is it running off the same wiring to the front?
Is there any value in "upgrading" the wiring to both the front/rear cig plugs?
Has anyone had this problem with the gearbox transmission sensor fuse or is it something more sinister?
Would the sensor be on its way out?
Btw, in a prev post i had battery issues and have since had a new one installed (1000cca).
Any thoughts / suggestions on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. I know there is the second battery route but i dont know if that would fix the underlying issue?

Got me stumped, but I'm keen to find out why as I have the exactly same truck as yougood to hear you got the 1000cca they are really good
Hi Biggin. The 'location' of the fuse is the 4th fuse counting from the bottom up on the left hand side when reading from the fuse table cover that pops down. Hope that makes sense, we are 'still' driving back from country SA...
@disco2_dan, def no starting problems now so I am happy on that front.

oki You need to do some eliminations. Does it blow when only the gps is plugged in? No? Does it blow when 1 fan in plugged in? Yes? No? Does it blow when nothing is plugged in? (This will require a period of NOT using the lighter socket) Do this and ifnothing happens well then we can move on. I suspect if it has been oki b4 the trip it will be 1 of the rotating effluent distributors!![]()

Apols if I wasn't clear in my original post.
We are using one of those round USB/Cig plug adapters that fit in the drink tray at the front of which we bought from Autobarn. This extends the number of plugs to x2 cig plug adapters, x1 usb port and x1 other port (that we don't use). There are 4 lights which indicate the juice being used i.e drain on the battery. No idea if you know what i'm on about. Hopefully the below explains a little more clearer...
Round Adapter - plugged into FRONT: We have ran simultaneously
1. x1 USB port to power the GPS plus
2. x1 round cig plug for the SCA fan for the front plus
3. x1 round cig plug for a rectangular extension adapter for all the middle/back stuff
Rectangular Adapter: We have ran (in unison/simultaneously with the autobarn adapter):
1. x1 round cig plug adapter for an SCA fan in the cargo area plus
2. x1 round cig plug adapter for a dvd player in the cargo area
All the above points (1,2,3 and 1,2) are running simultaneously.
The fuse then blows on the Gearbox Trans Sensor when a third device is plugged into the rectangular adapter, which in this case is another DVD player.
As a side note:
On previous trips we have used the same round autobarn adapter plugged into the front with the gps plugged in via usb, x1 mobile phone on charge through one of the cig plug adapters on the adapter (which has a usb head on it) and the other cig plug used to power another rectangular extension adapter for the back/middle row. This rectangular extension adapter has then powered x3 dvd players. All of this stuff was running simultaneously with no problems.
The only variation between the two scenarios above have been the use of the SCA fans for both the front and rear.
Not too sure where to from here but appreciate any thoughts... and again hope I make sense. Pregnant head gets the better of me sometimeslol

So you are blowing fuse 15. You are simply overloading the circuit. What size fans are you running? Your combined load is obviously around the 20A mark. Too high for this circuit.
The accessory socket at the rear is powered from fuse 32 and is 25A. It will pay to run a couple of your devices out of this socket.
Providing you don't have a dodgy device, all should be good.

X2 with biggin, very much over loading that outlet.Transfer some load to the rear. If you want to run that much it will pay you to install dedicated outlets for them, suitably fused and wired with heavy cable . Never install stuff without fuses and never increase the size of a fuse if the original blows.

Thanks Biggin and Scott for the replies. i'll need to get hubby to look at the socket in the rear as its not working. As for the rest of the trip... things went pearshaped just a little after mount gambier (destination millicent) and followed us home to vic....we decided to call this trip 'the nutters griswald christmas vacation'... lol
