About 135 litres usually.![]()
Sure it's been asked or done before, but just for amusement, how many litres have we all been able to squeeze into the fuel tank of a Series 2 Disco??
After a couple of days of driving with the yellow light on I finally filled up with 92.75litres.
Any takers?

I have snuck in just over 95L once, to the first click. Caravan park 50km out of town did not have diesel as I was led to believe. Arrived at the park just as it hit the bottom of the red!
A rather slow and stressful trip to town the next morning, but all was good.
RAVE lists 95L as the "usable" capacity of the tank. Filling up into the neck should give you a bit more capacity than that.
When filling "full" I always fill right to the top of the neck. The most I have got in the tank and neck has been 96l from bone dry (engine stopped)

A little while back I squeezed 93.something in but I did do it do 3 clicks of the bouser, I only run it that low as there was no servo's around and like an earlier post it was pretty stressful the last 20km or so... Lol
The tanks are designed to have a small air space left in the top.
cheersA breather spout within the tank controls the tank 'full' height. When fuel covers the spout it prevents fuel vapour and air from escaping from the tank. This causes the fuel to 'back-up' in the filler tube and shuts off the filler gun. The position of the spout ensures that when the filler gun shuts off, a vapour space of approximately 10% of the tanks total capacity remains. The vapour space ensures that the Roll Over Valve (ROV) is always above the fuel level and vapour can escape and allow the tank to breathe.
The ROV is welded on the top surface of the tank. The ROV is connected by a tube to the filler tube, which in turn is
connected to the atmospheric vent pipe. The ROV allows fuel vapour to pass through it during normal vehicle
operation. In the event of the vehicle being overturned the valve shuts off, sealing the tank and preventing fuel from
spilling from the atmospheric vent pipe.
