It is more than likely due to the age of the airsprings. Soapy water in a spray bottle will reveal hole/s.
The best place to spray is where the back rolls under at the bottom edge, the cracks open up and leak there. This explains why on extended mode it will stay inflated for longer.
I spray the bottom of the bags at normal ride height, then get someone to stand on the tow hitch and as the bag rolls under you can usually locate the errant leak.
DON'T change to coils, you will regret it.
