hi all, just started having trouble with rear air suspension on my 2003 disco 2. stop and lock it up for the night and in the morning the rear has sagged down, it used to always come back up to normal when starting after a minute or so idling before driving, but now it seems to have trouble in coming back up to normal, so had been pressing the button to lift it up that inch or so before switching off and it will stay up ok, but if i dont it will sag..... but just lately it seems to have got worse. and just now and then it wont come up to normal driving height. sometimes if i switch it off and leave it for a while it will do its thing and be ok, but lately it has become very random if it will adjust itself. starting to p**s me off....... any suggestions as what i can do? maybe small hole? just not sure, as 70% of the time it is fine.... just seems weird to me...... has anyone else had this trouble? is it expensive to rectify? or should i just put some springs on instead???? has 40mm lift kit also. could that be tripping it out? any suggestions would be appreciated. cheers mick.

It is more than likely due to the age of the airsprings. Soapy water in a spray bottle will reveal hole/s.
The best place to spray is where the back rolls under at the bottom edge, the cracks open up and leak there. This explains why on extended mode it will stay inflated for longer.
I spray the bottom of the bags at normal ride height, then get someone to stand on the tow hitch and as the bag rolls under you can usually locate the errant leak.
DON'T change to coils, you will regret it.

Before you change out the airbags, perform a check on the ENTIRE system for leaks.
Mine had a leaking valve block (a generally reliable and robust component), and the leaks were from out of the electrical connections on the valve block of all places.
Had I just thought it was the bags, I'd have wasted my money replacing things that didn't need to be replaced.
Get a spray bottle, add some detergent, and spray everything down. If it's the bags, then fair enough, but don't just accept that this is the cause without checking.

Leaking air bag and failing compressor most probably. Similar symptoms with mine- one day soon it won't come back up.Order new parts from the UK and replace.

Replace the rear airbags NOW, from a good UK brand.
Believe me, I know...
Soapy test will reveal this, but IMHO replace the bags anyway, I wouldn't even do the test, you've had your 10 years on them and you'll kill the compressor.

Arnotts have leaked for several of my customers, even from the top band clamp too. an Overseas 'warranty' is hard to enact, and basically we just want them to work. Had NO issues at all with Contitech or Dunlop bags, ever.
That has been my experience, but lots have had no problems with them. Each to their own.

With the soapy water test. Use a dishwashing liquid container with only a small amount of detergent and then a cup of water. Shake and squirt at the bag. If you use to much you squirt liquid and it dosent bubble aswell.
A spray bottle with soapy water will do the same.
On changing the bag. Is there a longer bag to suit a 2" lift?
