2002 D2 td5 rough idle
Hi guys. My 2002 D2 td5 has started to idle quite rough. The acoustic cover is shaking visibly. What can I check before I take the truck to my local mech or the stealership. I'd rather fix it myself than pay the $155 p/h the stealers want. It still has plenty of power as it tows the van fine (just returned from holidays) but I noticed the fuel consumption has slightly increased.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Have you checked the usual culprit/s?
Have you checked the Injector harness (oil at red ecu connector)? EGR valve (gumming up in inlet manifold- take sensor on manifold off to see how bad it is)? MAF sensor (need nanacom for this/ can try without it - ecu gives default values i believe)? Could also be engine mounts - should be about 10mm gap between bottom of mount and rubber when looking from underneath. Hydraulic filled mount, so it may be failing?

I checked to manifold sensor and not too bad, just a small amount of gunk on it. There was a small amount of oil at the red plug after checking it. I cleaned this and no change. Maybe the harness is cactus though? Thinking about it this had gotten progressively worse over time. Il. Check the mounts. Ta.

Easy way to check the mounts if not totally sure, put the jack under the sump, start the car and very slowly jack the sump ( use some wood or something flat so you dont damage the sump ), if the viabration goes with a few pumps of the jack the good indication the mounts are R/S.
Its easier if there is someone in the car that can tell you if they can notice any difference.
Cheers Ean
PS obviously you only want to jack it slightly, dont keep pumping the jack hoping it will eventually go away.
